02 / Public Safety
Public safety, understood through relationships.
Public safety is not a single tool or agency. It is a set of relationships among people, information, field systems, institutions and decisions.

Follow how information meets a decision.
Technology and research can help make a system more legible. They do not replace authority, accountability or human judgment.
- 01
People
Lived experience, access, safety and the consequences of systems.
- 02
Information
How data is collected, interpreted, shared and bounded.
- 03
Field systems
Tools and processes as they meet real environments and constraints.
- 04
Institutions
Mandates, responsibilities, governance and coordination.
- 05
Decision context
The evidence, uncertainty and human judgment surrounding a decision.
Focus areas
Questions across public systems.
These describe LeshCore’s areas of focus and research interest, not operational authority or a claim of deployed public-sector services.
Public safety & criminal justice technology
How technology and processes interact across institutions and communities.
A systems view considers institutional and community needs, mandates, information flows, safeguards and operational constraints together. Questions of fairness, accountability and effectiveness belong alongside technical fit; a tool is not a substitute for responsible institutions or human judgment.
Digital investigations
Technology and research relevant to evidence integrity, context and boundaries.
Digital evidence raises connected questions about preservation, authority, acquisition, validation, interpretation and later review. The published LC-CJ-002 brief is a source-based technology review, not an operational protocol or case-service claim.
Community technology
How digital tools can shape access, trust and people’s experience of public systems.
This focus asks whose needs a system reflects, whether services are usable and accessible, how decisions are explained, and what feedback paths exist. Trust and practical barriers matter, but this is a research and design lens—not a claim of a particular community deployment or measured outcome.
Data & decision support
Information quality, interpretation and the role of human judgment.
Decision-support questions include data quality, what information can and cannot establish, how uncertainty is communicated, and how outcomes are evaluated. Accountable people remain responsible for interpretation and action; a system should make that responsibility clearer, not obscure it.
